Texas Stops Teaching that Ku Klux Klan was “Morally Wrong”

by | Jul 24, 2021

Wednesday July 21, 2021 the Texas Senate passed a bill that will remove the requirement to teach Ku Klux Klan as ‘morally wrong.’

The House bill “require teaching about the accomplishments of United Farm Workers leader Cesar Chavez, Susan B. Anthony’s writings about the women’s suffragist movement, and Native American history.  The bill further states that public school educators must teach “the  history of white supremacy” including slavery, the Ku Klux Klan, and ways in which the white supremacist hate group was “morally wrong.  But in the Senate bill, those agenda items were removed.” – says nbcnews.com

This is a continuation of the erasure of black and brown peoples in the already very white washed American history class that most public schools have been teaching students for several decades.  Our students deserve so much better.  Our people deserve so much better.
